Customs Intelligence impounds non-duty paid Toyota Corolla

ISLAMABAD: The Directorate of Customs Intelligence and Investigation has impounded a non-duty paid Toyota Corolla model 2005 from vehicles’ parking stand of Excise and Taxation.

Customs Intelligence-car cell Superintendent Javed Akhtar Jehangiri was informed by an informer that a non-duty paid vehicle is parked near excise office. On which, a team was formed to hold the vehicle. The members of the team took their positions at hidden places to apprehend the accused person, but no one approach to the vehicle.

Therefore, after six-hour long vigilance, the officials took the vehicle into custody and shifted it to Customs Intelligence office.

In order to get the record of the vehicle, the intelligence checked the data of Amnesty Scheme 2013 and auctioned vehicles but no record found. Therefore, the officials impound the vehicle under Section 17 of Customs Act, 1969.

However, a notice under Section 26 of the Customs Act, 1969 has also been served on unknown owner of the vehicle in which the unknown accused has been asked to produce the documents of customs clearance within stipulated time to avoid the further legal action.
