Customs Intelligence impounds oil tanker, diesel worth Rs 3 million

KARACHI: The Custom Intelligence and Investigation and Anti-smuggling impounded a Hino oil tanker carrying 6,000 litres of high speed diesel worth Rs 3 million.

On the directions of Customs Intelligence Director Marghoob Ahmed Siddiqui, Additional Director Nadeem Ahsan and Assistant Director Kaleemullah formed a team comprising inspectors Parwez Ahmed Zardari, Muhammad Aqmal Hashmi, Rana Insram Rabbini, Munwar Ali and Khuram Saeed.

The team headed by Deputy Superintendent Hajji Aslam intercepted the oil tanker bearing Registration No. SEA-875. The officials recovered smuggled diesel and arrested the accused after registering a case against him.

Later, the accused was appeared before the Customs Court where the special judge sent him to jail awarding him punishment.

Deputy Superintendent Hajji Aslam and Rana Insram said that strict measures were being taken to curb smuggling in the region.
