Customs Intelligence Multan impounds items & vehicles valued at Rs71.290m during first quarter

MULTAN: The Directorate of Customs Intelligence and Investigation-FBR Office Multan took into possession smuggling goods and vehicles worth Rs71.290million in an anti-smuggling campaign during the first quarter of ongoing Fiscal Year 2017-18.

Following the policy guidelines issued by Director General Customs Intelligence and Investigation Shaukat Ali, Deputy Director Khial Muhammad Khan has intensified the anti-smuggling activities in the jurisdiction throughout the first quarter of the fiscal year 2017-18. The Customs Intelligence and Investigation Multan Office initiated the drive in the vast territory, which comprised of Multan, Dera Ghazi Khan and Sadiqabad.

The Customs Intelligence teams deputed the field formation staff at the suspected areas of the routes, which were used by smugglers for the transportation of non-duty-paid vehicles and goods in the first quarter.

Sources told Customs Today that Customs Intelligence and Investigation Multan Office impounded 36 foreign origin vehicles of different models valued at Rs66.990million after the end of the first quarter 2017-18. The Customs Intelligence Multan teams intercepted 32 foreign origin vehicles worth Rs41.55million during corresponding period of the Fiscal Year 2016-17.

The Field Intelligence Unit of Customs has detected 39 various seizures valued at Rs71.290million due to enhanced monitoring of the goods and vehicles in the region and it involves duties and taxes of Rs54.356million in the first three months of FY2017-18.

The Customs Intelligence and Investigation has also generated a huge revenue of Rs29.691million through auctions of impounded vehicles and goods in the jurisdiction.
