Customs Intelligence recovers huge quantity of smuggled goods worth Rs 30.17m during Feb

ISLAMABAD: Directorate General Customs Intelligence and Investigation of the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR), in its countrywide anti-smuggling operations, has seized miscellaneous goods worth millions of rupees in February 2017.

The items include auto spare parts, electronics, gutka, carpets, tyers, blankets, tea, petrol, grease, toiletries, food grains, toys, medicines, dinner set and crockery, foreign currency, diesel and narcotics.

The Directorate General recovered 469,360 liter Iranian diesel and 2,580 liters mobile oil worth Rs 797,000, and auto spare parts worth Rs 48.16 million. The department also seized foreign currency of various countries, including $18,900 and Saudi riyals 76,500 amounting to Rs 4.1 million. The anti-smuggling staff also seized 865  tyers and tubes worth Rs 5.3 million, electronic goods worth Rs 13.41 million, 541 blankets worth Rs 1.49 million, toys worth Rs 4.36 million, medicines worth Rs 2,49,000, dinner set and crockery worth Rs 2 million. The Customs I&I caught Indian smuggled Pan Parag and Zafrani Patti worth Rs 1.58 million and gutka worth Rs 2.386 million.

The anti-smuggling staff also recovered carpets worth Rs 30,000 and seized miscellaneous goods worth Rs 725. 56 million. Customs anti-smuggling staff in operation against narcotics smuggling has seized 745 kilograms of charas worth Rs 187 million in international market.

The total worth of the seized goods and vehicles is Rs 30.17 million while 180 FIRs are already lodged against criminals and arrested five accused. Director General Shaukat Ali has lauded the performance of the regional directorates.
