Customs Intelligence recovers smuggled vehicles, goods worth Rs498.2m in May

ISLAMABAD: Director-General Customs Intelligence and Investigation Imtiaz Ahmad Khan directed to use all available resources to curb smuggling in the region.

Sources told Customs Today that during the month of May 2016 customs team recovered non-duty paid vehicles and goods worth Rs 498.2 million. The department also registered 141 cases and arrested one person.

Sources said that during the same month of previous Fiscal Year customs team recovered Rs100.6 million non-duty paid goods and vehicles. All these goods and vehicles were seized under section 157 of customs act. Sources said the goods which were seized includes 70 non-duty paid vehicles, foreign origin cloth, tyres and tubes, black tea, smuggled diesel, non-duty paid cigarettes, electronics items, vegetable oil, miscelleanous items, hashish, opium, and heroin.
