Customs Intelligence seizes 3,39.632 yards non duty paid cloth till Dec 14 of FY-2016-17

ISLAMABAD: The Directorate General Customs Intelligence and Investigation Federal Board of Revenue has seized 3,39,621 yards of foreign origin non duty paid smuggled cloth amounting to Rs. 56.76 million in five and half month (till 15 December 2016) in different operations against smuggling and illegal trades.

Director General Customs Intelligence and Investigations Shaukat Ali has directed to all directorates, that the action against smuggling and illegal trade should be enhanced specially regarding cloth smuggling do focus on the roads, linked Khyber Pakhtunkha to other parts of the country.

It is pertinent to mention here that in last fiscal year 2015 customs I&I had seized 13,98,726 yard record non-duty paid foreign origin cloth amounting to Rs. 329.53 million.

Now during current financial year Customs I&I has seized 1,98,180 yards foreign origin cloth worth Rs.18.39 million. In the month of September the customs I&I seized 1,30,661 yards smuggled cloth worth Rs. 10.89 million. During August Anti smuggling staff has impound 24,457 yards smuggled cloth worth Rs 2.33 million.
