Customs Intelligence seizes huge quantity of contraband items in May

FAISALABAD: The Directorate of Customs Intelligence and Investigation seized smuggled goods worth Rs 48.7 million involving duty taxes amounting to Rs 32.7 million in different anti-smuggling activities during May 2016.

Sources told Customs Today that Customs Intelligence team conducted various operations against smuggled goods and vehicles in different areas of its jurisdiction and registered 13 seizure cases during the period.

The teams confiscated smuggled tyres, Girder iron pipes, screw rods, iron wire, Indian origin zeera, red chilli seed and foreign origin dia gauage. The customs team also recovered non-duty paid cigarettes worth Rs 8.4 million.

The Filed Investigation Unit (FIU) Khushab also confiscated different which includes, Delkor brand battery, non-duty paid Iranian dates, Fakhar Mint Tobacco flavor. All the seizure cases have been referred to the Customs Adjudication for further legal actions.
