Customs Intelligence seizes Iranian bitumen, vehicle worth Rs 9m

ISLAMABAD: The Customs Intelligence and Investigation, Multan, has impounded a vehicle loaded with 58 metric ton of Iranian origin bitumen worth Rs 9 million in Sadiqabad.

According to the details, a mobile squad of the Custom Intelligence received information that a tanker is coming from Balochistan carrying smuggled bitumen.

The squad intercepted the tanker in its jurisdiction and recovered 58MT bitumen. The officials asked the driver to show documents. But the driver failed to show any relevant document regarding the legal import of the item.

Therefore, the officials impounded the vehicle and bitumen considering it smuggled. FIR has been registered against the accused person, while further investigation to trace the mail culprit is underway.
