Customs Intelligence seizes recovers LCDs, hard disks

FAISALABAD: The Customs Intelligence and Investigation has confiscated smuggled goods worth Rs 57,92,960 involving duty and taxes amounting to Rs 7,48,137 during a road checking.

According to the details, the intelligence team following the directions of Deputy Director Muhammad Azam Khan conducted raid to foil smuggling attempt in the region.

The Customs Intelligence intercepted a trailer bearing registration no: TLD-781 near Sadhar ByPass Jhang Road loaded with 132 pieces of used personal computer 610-sets, used CPU core 2 with hard disk 235 pieces and others items.

The customs team asked the driver Liaqat ali to show documents regarding legal import of the items on which he produced a goods declaration (GD) no: KPPI-HC-79141 showing clearance of computers etc from Port Qasim by M/s Noor Bajwa Trading Company regarding transport of container from Karachi to Faisalabad.

The officials found discrepancies while examining the documents and recovered goods. Therefore, they confiscated items under Section 18, 32 of the Customs Act, 1969 read with Section 3(1) (3) of the Import and Export Control Act, 1969.

The customs team comprising Irshad Ali, Muhammad Saleem, Muhammad Siddique, Sepoys Ajmal Hussain and Muhammad Musaddiq Ahmad participated in the raids. However, seizure reports have been submitted to adjudication department for further legal action.
