Customs Karachi seizes various kinds of imported mobile-phones & watches

KARACHI: The Customs Collectorate has impounded different kinds of mobile phones and imported watches worth more than Rs3million on Wednesday.

Sources told Customs Today that, on the directives of Deputy Collector Gwadar Junaid Mehmood, an operation against smuggled items and non-duty-paid luxury vehicles is going on in full swing and several raids have been conducted during previous month of November and operation of smuggled items is also still going on during the current month of December.

Sources told CT that, on Wednesday afternoon, Deputy Collector Gwadar constituted a team of Customs Anti-Smuggling Organization (ASO) under the supervision of Customs Preventive Inspector Wahad Idrees and others. The team, during a search operation on Gwadar Checkpost, intercepted a truck bearing registration No: GL-2832 which was going out of the city.

During the raid, the customs team impounded 100 pieces of different types of smart phones, over 80 imported non-duty-paid watches worth Rs3million. The customs team arrested the smugglers involved in smuggling and registered an FIR against the accused persons and started investigations.
