LFU Wagha collects Rs 226.6 million in taxes in second half of March

LAHORE: Pakistan Customs Land Freight Unit (LFU) Wagha border collected Rs 226.6 million in the wake of duty/tax during the second half of March 2015

According to data available with Customs Today, Pakistan Customs collected these taxes on the import of different items from India. Total revenue generated by LFU Wagha stands at Rs 226.6 million, which was collected under the heads of sales tax, income tax and additional sales tax levied on specific items imported from India via Wagha border.

The LFU Wagha collected Rs 143 million as duty/tax on the import of soya bean and other products of soya bean category, while tax to the tune of Rs 16 million was generated on the import of polyethylene materials from India.

Total sales tax collected on imports from India is Rs 88.9 million, while income tax stands at Rs 70 million. The LFU Wagha also generated additional sales tax of Rs 1.6 million, while Rs 67 million was collected in the wake of duty/tax.

Pakistan is importing polymer plastic raw material from India and a number of other items including vegetables, cotton yarn and fruits, etc.
