MANILA: The Bureau of Customs (BOC) missed its collection target in September, preliminary figures from the bureau showed.
In a statement, the BOC said its collection last month has reached P33.951 billion, up 3.98 percent from P32.651 billion a year earlier, but short of P1.839 billion or 5.41 percent from the P35.790-billion target for the month.
The bureau, however, noted the initial numbers were 94.9 percent of the collection target and expects the amount to go higher increase upon the final report is in.
Despite missing the collection target, the BOC said its actual revenue collection has been improving since the new administration took over.
The monthly revenue collections have been increasing since the bureau collected P30.278 billion in July, it said.
