Customs Multan holds investigations into case of re-imported machinery

ULTAN: Directorate of Customs Intelligence and Investigation Multan has held an investigation into the case of Fatima Fertilizer Company Limited about the machinery re-imported for maintenance.

According to details, Fatima Fertilizer Company Limited re-imported transportation shells and forged channel head for repairing about two years ago. Additional Director Customs Intelligence and Investigation Multan decided to hold the investigation.

Customs Intelligence and Investigation Multan was probing the re-import of machinery after maintenance from foreign country. The department of Customs Intelligence and Investigation raised objection that the weight of the machinery was increased 13.725 metric after the re-import of the maintenance of machinery.

The Customs Intelligence and Investigation also inquired some few points in the re import of machinery of the Fatima Fertilizer Company Limited about the existing modification and restructure of machinery re-imported for maintenance.

The Customs Intelligence and Investigation asked from Fatima Fertilizer Company Limited about the missing of commercial invoice attached with the relevant export goods of this machinery. Customs Intelligence and Investigation investigated on the re-import of machinery for repairing that the assessed amount for repairing had declared 187,000 euros initially by Fatima Fertilizer Company Limited.

While maintenance amount of defective machinery of Fatima Fertilizer Company Limited had reached 296,000 euros instead of declared amount of 187,000 euros.

The Customs Intelligence and Investigation Multan concluded their investigation process after getting satisfactory explanations about their repaired machinery that the gross weight of the machinery at the time of re import was 30 Metric tons. Although the base and actual structure of the flawed machinery remained same after repairing but the weight of the machinery was increases to 43.725 Metric Tons instead of 30 Metric Tons because the parts replaced were greater in weight than the defective parts of the machinery.
