Customs PCA issues Rs 86.85m contravention reports in July

KARACHI: With its continuing efforts to contribute to the national kitty, the Customs Post Clearance Audit (PCA), Karachi has issued some 33 contravention reports worth Rs 86.85 million against different importers for taking undue advantage of the SRO 1125(I)/2011 dated 31.12.2011.

These all contraventions have been issued in the month of July 2015, reflecting extra ordinary performance of the PCA directorate Karachi and the officers.

The sources told Customs Today, that these contravention had been issued to the importers for short payment of sales tax and corresponding income tax in violation of SRO1125(I)/2011 under various PCT Codes. Besides, short payment of customs duty, sales tax, additional sales tax, RB and income tax.

The contravention also included the importers who had taken benefits by mis declaration of value and non application of valuating ruling. And, inadmissible exemption of sales tax vide Schedule VIII on import of silos classifiable under PCT Heading 9406.0030.

The importers who have violated the SRO1125(I)/2011 imported goods from United Arab Emirates, Thailand, Japan, China, Turkey, Italy, Indonesia and the United States of America etc.
