Customs, Pemra team confiscate hundreds of Indian DTH devices

ISLAMABAD: The officials of Pakistan Customs along with Pakistan Election Media Regulatory Authority (Pemra) teams have raided several markets in the federal capital and confiscated Indian Direct to Home (DTH) devices, receivers and C-Lines.

The teams seized 4,131 illegal Indian DTHs, low-noise block down-converters (LNBs) and C-Line receivers during the crackdowns. According to the Pemra spokesman, the media regulatory authority is also taking action against 1,762 cable operators and seized their equipment.

Meanwhile, regional teams of the media regulatory authority also carried out raids Sialkot, Gujranwala, Mandi Bahauddin and Gujrat. Pemra has placed a blanket ban on airing Indian content on television or radio.
