PESHAWAR: The Modal Customs Collectorate Peshawar (MCCP) generated a total of Rs480.89million revenue collection in December 2017 against Rs1612.19million of allocated target during December 2016 with a total deficit of 71.29 percent up to January 13, 2018.
According to Statistical Section of the Peshawar Customs House, under head of custom duty in the month of December, the house collected Rs222.51million against Rs555.86million collected during December in the previous year. The total difference was recorded minus 63.08 percent growth while the difference was minus 59.97 percent of achievement.

Under the head of Sale Tax on Import, the house generated Rs109.07million compared to Rs436.35million in December 2016 having a difference of minus 75 percent deficit while the difference of loss in percentage is 327.28.
Likewise under the head of Sale Tax levied as Federal Excise Duty on palm oil, the house collected Rs42.15million in December 2017 against Rs160.70million received in December 2016. The difference is of minus 73.77 percent while the difference in rupees is noticed minus Rs118.55million.
In terms of Federal Excise Duty on Imports, the house got Rs2.99million in December 2017 against the previous year of this month which is Rs13.39million with a difference of minus 77.57 percent and the difference in rupees is Rs10.40million.
Under the head of Withholding Tax, the house collected Rs88.26million against the previous year of this month which is Rs381.65million with a total difference of minus Rs293.39million while the difference is of 76.87 percent.
The overall performance of the house was badly affected due to ongoing system of border management which limited the entry of Afghan citizens into Pakistan. The house has rounded up a large number of smugglers and generated handsome revenue by thwarting the smuggling bids.
