Customs Preventive committed to root out smuggling:  Deputy Collector Ali Raza

KARACHI: Deputy Collector Customs Preventive Headquarters Ali Raza has said that the customs officials face pressure when they conduct raids against smugglers.

Talking to Customs Today, the Deputy Collector said, “It is our responsibility to curb smuggling and the customs officers are working round the clock to apprehend smugglers no matter how much they are influential.”

Deputy Collector Customs Preventive Ali Raza said that, “We are working harder to end smuggling from our country no matter if it is Irani diesel, luxury vehicles, contraband items or any other goods as we are committed to eliminate smuggling because it is a curse for our country, causing billions of rupees loss to the revenue”.

“The Customs Preventive has started a new forceful crackdown against the non duty paid luxury vehicles in which several raids were conducted and fruitful result has been achieved so far, the crackdown will gain momentum by the time and we will not stay calm”, added Deputy Collector Customs Preventive Headquarters Ali Raza.

Replying to a question Ali Raza informed that, “Land Cruisers, V8, Surf and other heavy luxury vehicles are being smuggled nowadays on which customs have conducted several raids and have recovered a huge quantity of the non duty paid vehicles worth billions of rupees in the market”.

“Pakistan Customs is a vibrant organization and we deal with pressure when it comes against the raids and busting people involved in crimes but when a person is committed that he is working for the sake of his mother land, for the sake of his nation then pressure is nothing”, said the deputy collector Customs.

Ali Raza said, “for an officer to sustain the pressure is the biggest thing, whoever individual or any group found in smashing the revenue or involved in destructing the name of the country whether through smuggling of donkey hides, smuggling of luxury vehicles, Irani diesel, cloths or any other item will be dealth with iron hands, I am committed as well as Pakistan customs is committed to throw these such elements fetching their roots to curb smuggling which is hazard for our county.
