Customs Preventive confiscates smuggled goods worth millions of rupees

KARACHI: Collectorate of Customs Preventive Anti-Smuggling Organization (ASO) confiscated huge quantity of smuggled goods worth millions of rupees in three raids.

Sources told Customs Today that Deputy Collector Faisal Khan constituted a team to conduct raids on different places of the city to apprehend the contraband goods worth millions of rupees being smuggled to Karachi.

The seizure of fake/counterfeit watches and sun glasses took place in which contraband goods worth Rs2,473,312 were recovered by Deputy Collector Headquarters Faisal Khan.

In second attempt, the team of ASO busted a cache of fake/counterfeit watches of famous leading brands (Rado, Rolex, Citizen,  Fossil, Omega,  Seiko,  Burberry etc.) which were 24645 pieces along with their parts weighing 24 kilograms as well as packing material 9 kilograms from the city station.

During the raid three accused persons were arrested and FIR lodged against them and real people linked to these goods would be traced out during prosecution.

As per the numbers shared by the Deputy Collector Faisal Khan, the tentative value of seized smuggled as well as fake/counterfeit goods (Rs10,619,041 including conveyance Rs300,000/-)  is estimated at Rs10,919,041/-

On the other hand, ASO Preventive enforcement drive against smuggled POL products is continued. The ASO team in coordination with PS Moachko seized 27000 liters smuggled Iranian diesel concealed in an underground tank at Moachko area. The cases against the crime are registered and further investigations are underway.
