Customs Preventive impounds bus loaded with smuggled toiletries worth Rs 500,000

LAHORE: The Customs Preventive has impounded another bus containing illegally imported toiletries worth Rs 500,000, sources told Customs Today on Tuesday.

On secret information received by AC Saqibur Rehman, the Custom Anti-Smuggling Organisation (ASO) headed by Superintendent Mumtaz Ajmal Mian, Deputy Superintendent Mazhar Abbas Butter and inspectors Irfan Mumtaz, Manzar Muzafar Bhatti and Saeed Randhawa intercepted a bus coming from Peshawar bearing registration number LEA-14-6886 loaded with smuggled toiletries worth half a million rupees.

Sources said that the customs authorities impounded the bus and seized the consignment, while further investigation was underway until the filing of this report.

Sources also said that on the instruction of Customs Preventive Collector Mukarram Jah Ansari, the Lahore ASO has launched a comprehensive campaign against smugglers.

The sources said that the ASO staff had been urged to adopt zero tolerance against smugglers.
