Customs Preventive impounds Toyota Land Cruiser worth Rs 3m

ISLAMABAD: The Model Customs Collectorate Preventive Islamabad has impounded Toyota Land Cruiser worth Rs 3.2 million during a road checking.

According to the details, Customs Preventive staff intercepted a vehicle bearing Registration No. RPT-586 during road checking.

The staff asked the driver of the vehicle to produce the documents showing the legal import of the vehicle and lawful possession of the vehicle but the he remained fail to produce any legal documents. Moreover, the vehicle was being used with fake registration plates.

Therefore, Customs Preventive Inspector Muhamad Safdar took the vehicle into custody on smuggling charges which is violation of Section 2(s) and 16 of Customs Act 1969, and punishable under Section 156(1), (89) of Customs Act 1969.
