Customs Preventive lodges FIR against M/s Paradise Ecommerce Solutions

KARACHI: The Customs Court Judge Syed Faiz Rasool Rashdi on Tuesday sent suspects namely M Najib Markatia, owner/proprietor/partner of M/s Paradise Ecommerce Solutions and Rafiq Ahmed Siddiqui, clearing in-charge, to customs lock-up for physical remand, who was booked in a case of mis-declaration and evasion of duty and taxes in the tune of Rs2,854,943.

During the hearing, investigation officer Ashiq Ali Memon, Appraising officer of Customs Preventive AFU/ICG JIAK produced First Information Report along with above mentioned suspects and informed the court that above-mentioned importer imported a consignment as magazines/printed material 51 packages 690 kilogram gross weight from M/s Darlington Postal Company USA BY EK-600 on 19-05-2018.

He argued that the importer got delivery order and gate pass dated 19/05/2018 duly issued in the morning of May 19, 2018 by the ground handling agent M/s Gerry’s Dnata. The aforesaid shipment was allowed gate out by M/s Gerry’s Dnata and the Preventive staff posted at ICG gate in terms of standing order and the delivery of the instant shipment was under process at about 4.30 pm.

He further informed the court that while inspecting airline manifest along with invoices found a detailed invoices pertaining to instant shipment which revealed contents of the cargo packed in 51 packages and recovered 3D printer one piece, 207 kilograms assorted cosmetic, 50 kilograms assorted food supplements, 26 assorted wrist watches, 34 assorted ladies hand bags, 47 pieces of assorted children garments, 4 pairs assorted baby shoes, 35 pairs assorted ladies shoes, 11 pairs assorted gents shoes, 02 pieces laptop and other assorted goods.

Investigation officer submitted that after the formalities, mis-declared goods were seized and case was registered against said importer. He requested the court that prosecution needs further investigation, therefore, court may send them back to customs department on physical remand. After the hearing, court sent them back to customs lock-up on physical remand.
