Customs Preventive recovers 8kg opium in raid, 2 arrested

KARACHI: Collectorate of Customs Preventive Anti-Smuggling Organization (ASO) busted narcotics worth millions of rupees after a successful raid at Moachko check post.

According to the details, on the tip of higher authorities the Deputy Collector Headquarters Muhammad Faisal constituted a team to beef up the security and surveillance at the entry and exit point of the city against the illegal activities of the smugglers.

The ASO team checked several vehicles at the entry and exit points of the city and followed the procedure of customs to inquire regarding the legal documents and carried out the search of all vehicles including passenger buses.

During the search operation, the Custom team under the supervision of the deputy collector intercepted a passenger bus and carried out its complete search while all the passengers were thoroughly inquired.

The Custom team during the search operation found Opium from the luggage of two passengers weighting eight kilograms. Both the passengers were arrested and the recovered opium was taken in to the custody.

The source in the customs department informed Customs Today that the passenger bus was intercepted at the Moachko Chok point and the bus had departed from Khuzdar a city of Balochistan province.

Over the rapid response and successful seizure the Customs authorities has appreciated the efforts of the Customs Preventive Anti-Smuggling Organization (ASO).

Investigation from the apprehended culprits have been started after lodging the case of the narcotics smuggling whereas efforts are underway to arrest the master mind involved in the heinous crime.
