Customs Preventive seizes non duty paid cloth, offending vehicle worth Rs2.1009m

ISLAMABAD: Customs Preventive department seized fabric cloth and one offending vehicle under value of Rs2.1009 million.

Deputy Collector Shahid Jan told Customs Today that anti smuggling squad was on its routine patrolling at Peshawar Lahore Motor way when the squad intercepted a passenger Toyota Hiace van which was coming from Peshawar.

The anti smuggling squad asked the drivers to provide the relevant documents of loaded goods, but driver did not provide the relevant documents to the customs staff, after that squad seized 115 rolls of cloth from the passenger van. During another operation ASO team impounded a Toyota Hiace bearing registration no. RIS-11-1944. The driver of the vehicle failed to provide any legal documents.

Deputy Collector Shahid Jan said that smugglers have changed there mode of smuggling because of anti smuggling measures. He said that Customs department will use all available resources to nab offending vehicles which are plying on roads.

He said that anti smuggling activity will continue during next financial year 2016-17 with more effective efforts according to Collector Dr Arslan Subugteen.

The Customs authorities registered separate cases of smuggling against accused persons and started investigations under Custom act of 1969.

This successful seizer was conducted under the supervision of Superintendent Zargam Dil and Deputy Superintendent Rana Shakeel and the sporting staff of ASO.
