Customs Preventive seizes smart phones worth Rs 10.30m during 2014-2016

LAHORE: The Customs staff deputed at Allama Iqbal airport has seized smart phones of assorted brands worth Rs 10.30 million by foiling major smuggling attempts from February 2014 to April 2016 and lodged FIRs against the suspects.

As per details, the Customs Preventive foiled a bid to smuggle Samsung smart phones worth Rs 4.1 million on November 2014 from a suspect, Ch Abdul Waheed.

On February 16, 2015, the customs authorities foiled a bid to smuggle android mobile phones from the airport worth Rs 2.20 million. The customs lodged an FIR against the accused, however, the accused has been declared a proclaimed offender while adjudication has ordered confiscation of the phones as legal.

Similarly, the customs authorities seized Rs 4 million illegally imported mobiles of Samsung, Nokia from a suspect, Rehan Ahmad Zaidi.
