Customs Preventive torches huge quantity of contraband items, liquor, heroin, hashish on Int’l Customs Day

LAHORE: Customs Preventive set on fire millions of rupees liquor and other contraband goods seized by the field formations of the Customs Central Region.

The contrabands were destroyed and put to fire at the State Warehouse, Thoker Niaz Beg, Lahore.  According to Customs sources millions of rupees contraband items including 7182 bottles of liqur, 998 cartons of cigarettes,  3233 fire crackers, 1132 tobacco, 40 cartons of gutka, 3158kgs charas, 12 kg heroin, 8791 CD, DVDs, 860 video data tape, 29 dozens of oil bottles, 123 dozen  Enami bar soap138 dozens Emita Amla Hair oil, 225 pcs Medimx Real Soap, creams, poppy seeds, betel leaves, glazed papers, Viagra tablets, urine test cassettes , rapping papers, whiting soap, and face mask, instant fat filled powder, Viagra 100 tablets, 1100mg 25200 tables 100mg, expired food stuffs, expired medicine chemicals, herbal medicines and others such items.

Customs sources told Customs Today that these goods were gathered from all the four collectorates of the customs that comes under the limits of Customs Central Region.

The sources said that the ASOs of all the Collectorates seized all these contraband and illegally imported items from airport sand roads in and around the Customs Central Region.

Another source said that the aim of the burning of the items at the open places is to ensure transparency in the national interest.  It was added that if such items takes to the markets of the country they must have had destroyed the local industry besides the drugs have put the masses on addition.

The sources said that the destruction of the harmful smuggled items are undertaken every year at the Wagha border, however, this year the Customs Lahore Preventive has managed to set these contraband items on fire at the Thokar Niaz Baig at the State Warehouse.
