Customs recovers 891 smart phones at Peshawar airport

ISLAMABAD: Customs has recovered 891 smart phones from a bag allegedly being smuggled into Pakistan at Peshawar airport while scanning the passenger’s luggage.

As per detail, customs authorities deputed at Peshawar airport detained a bag on suspicion after scanning and found huge quantity of smart phones and when passengers coming to Pakistan from abroad were asked about the possession of bag, no one accepted its ownership.

Sources informed that a case has been registered against the unknown accused under Section 16 (s) 2 of Customs Act 1969 while case has been sent to Model Customs Collectorate Islamabad Collector Seema Raza Bukhari.

While Seema has issued a show cause notice in this regard and asked the unknown accused to present before customs otherwise, case will be decided on available evidence.

On the other hand, customs authorities are probing the case more to find out the accused passenger.
