Formulation of Customs Clearance Manual enters its final phase

Chief Collector Nasir Masroor calls meeting of all three field formation collectorates

Complete date expected to be complied within a fortnight

KARACHI: The process of formulating the Customs Clearance Manual has entered its final phase and compilation of data would be completed within 15 days.

Reliable sources while talking to Customs Today said that Appraisement-South Chief Collector Nasir Masroor Ahmed has summoned a meeting of the officers of all three field formation collectorates – Appraisement-East, Appraisement-West and MCC-Port Muhammad Bin Qasim – taking part in formulating the Customs Clearance Manual.

Sources disclosed that authorities of all three field formation collectorates would meet next week in order to check duplication, glitches and repetition in data.

Responding to a query, sources asserted that the authorities concerned of Pakistan Customs are determinately working on formulating the Customs Manual and will make it operational in the upcoming days.

They further said that the authorities concerned of Pakistan Customs are going to streamline the entire process in connection with formulating the Customs Clearance Manual for facilitating trade.

Sources further stated that the authorities concerned after getting the approval from the higher authorities of Pakistan Customs will send the entire document of Customs Manual for printing and subsequently the document would be circulated in all field formation collectorates.

It is pertinent to mention here that Appraisement-South Chief Collector Nasir Masroor Ahmed in the month of November last year had given the task to customs officers with a view to formulate the Customs Clearance Manual and appointed Appraisement-West Collector Muhammad Saleem to look into the progress in this regard.

Furthermore, the authorities concerned of all three field formation collectorates held several meeting in connection with evolving Customs Clearance Manual afterwards in order to give it a final touch for execution.

It may also be mentioned here that Appraisement-South Chief Collector Nasir Masroor Ahmed has already asked the authorities concerned of Pakistan Customs to ensure swift completion of Customs Manual within the stipulated timeframe.
