Customs recovers huge quantity of smuggled goods from Sukkur

ISLAMABAD: The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) has directed Customs authorities of Sukkur to speed up their efforts to curb smuggling in the region.

Superintendent of Customs Shabbir Phulpotto told Customs Today that fter receiving such directions, the customs authorities enhanced their surveillance in the area and recovered a huge quantity of smuggled items which were being smuggled from Quetta to Sukkur and Sadiqabad regions.

He said that various teams were formed to curb smuggling in the region. He said during checking of vehicles customs authorities recovered huge quantity of smuggled goods which includes foreign origin cloth, electronics goods, tyres, drugs, and other different items. He said that these goods were hidden in the secret part of two vehicles whle the market value of seized goods is Rs1.8million.

Customs team also arrested four accused persons who are involved in smuggling of these goods. Customs teams after seizing these goods forwards the case to Customs Adjudication authorities for further proceedings.
