Customs sees officials’ involvement in illegal import of printed/ misprinted paper scrap

KARACHI: Customs Directorate General of Intelligence and Investigation Karachi has found that some officials are allegedly involved in the illegal import of printed/ misprinted paper scrap in rolls through mis-declaration.

Customs I&I registered a First Information Report (FIR) against Muhammad Wasim, Proprietor of Ajwa Recycling (NTN-3424636) on the charges of illegal import and mis-declaring in description.

As per detail, the accused Muahmmad Wasim had cleared consignments by declaring it paper scrap through Model Customs Collectorate Appraisement-East recently.

Sources said that few Customs officers are also likely to be nominated in the FIR No. C.No.-58-Appg-I/DCI/Ajwa Recy/2015 soon.

Earlier, the FIR was lodged for laws violated under Section 16, 32(I)(2) & 79(I) of the Customs Act, 1969 read with S. No.11 of Appendix-B of Import Policy Order issued vide SRO.193(I)/2013 dated 08-03-2013 punishable under clause 14 of Section 156(I) of the Customs Act, 1969.
