Customs seizes 181 electronic goods during crackdown

ISLAMABAD: The Model Customs Collectorate Islamabad Preventive Division has seized foreign origin smuggled 181 electronic goods and arrested one accused during an operation.

Deputy Collector headquarter Yawar Nawaz told Customs Today that Preventive division constituted a raiding team on an information that an attempt will be made to smuggle electronic goods from Lahore to Rawalpindi. During the search operation, the team stopped a truck bearing registration no, N 3286 on GT Road Near Rawat.

He added that during thorough search, the team recovered 181 electronic items including 77 Samsung LED TV, 75 air-conditions, 4 refrigerators and 25 other electronic items. The owner of the goods failed to produced any evidence, documents regarding possession of the legal import.

After owner’s failure to produce legal documents the authority concern seized the goods alongwith offending vehicle and arrested accused named Naveed Akhtar.

The customs authority forward the case to Customs Adjudication for further investigation.
