Customs seizes 500 gramnes of heroin at Lahore airport

Accused shifted to hospital to recover gulped heroin-filled capsules

LAHORE: Customs authorities at Allama Iqbal International Airport Lahore have recovered about 500 grammes of heroin from a passenger destined to Thailand on Saturday.

Sourced informed Customs Today that a passenger namely Muhammad Ali was intercepted by customs officials at the Lahore airport on suspicion and recovered almost 250 grammes of heroin, which was concealed in the undergarments of the accused.

While investigating, customs authorities found that the accused had also gulped heroin-filled capsules. Sources said that another 250 grammes of heroin was estimated to be recovered from the stomach of the passenger.

They informed that the passenger had been admitted to the Services Hospital, Lahore, to save his life and to recover the heroin-filled capsules that he swallowed.

The accused intended to travel to Thailand from Pakistan through Thai airline’s flight TG346.

A case has been registered by customs authorities and further investigation is underway.
