CORK: Customs officers have seized €38,000 ($126,042) worth of cigarettes and tobacco and €55,000 in cash in two separate operations in Cork.
The seizure represents a potential loss to the exchequer of more than €31,000. Around 60,000 unstamped cigarettes and a car were seized in the Watergrasshill area of the county.
In a follow-up search in East Cork, one of Revenue’s tobacco and cash dogs, Harvey, uncovered a further 30kgs of tobacco along with €55,000 in cash. Revenue said investigations into the seizures are ongoing.
