Customs seizes goods defaulting 6.7m duties, owner claimed ownership of seized goods‏

MULTAN: The ownership of the seized goods recovered in joint anti-smuggling operation of customs intelligence and anti-smuggling organization has been claimed by owner of one warehouse during the investigation of the seized goods.

A businessman Faraz has owned the ownership of the seized goods from the godown located near central jail Multan. Customs intelligence and investigation has done the joint operation in three different godowns of the Multan region. Customs has recovered and seized the goods of   Rs 12.18 million from the central jail warehouse during a joint operation few days ago.

The recovered goods found during the operation from central jail warehouse were 12,200 kilograms dextrose monohydrate food grade dextranil of Indian origin. The dextrose monohydrate food grade dextranil recovered during operation was packed in 488 bags each of 25 kg.

The second recovered goods were Pegah manufactured in Khorasan of permeate powder of 22,025 kilograms in weight and it was made in Iran. Total 881 bags each of 25 kg were found during operation.

The third recovered goods were whey powder pegha manufactured in Esfahan also mentioned on the packing with the total quantity of 6,400 kg. The origin of whey powder is also in Iran packed in 320 bags each of 20 kg.

The total duty taxes involved in the recovered goods were assessed to be almost Rs 6.7 million of the seized goods. The department has already lodged an advance information report in the seized goods.

The import documents were submitted by the owner of the claimed goods and verification is also under process. Meanwhile the customs has lodged the first information report (FIR) of the said seized goods under Section 2(s) and 16 of the Customs Act 1969, Section 3(1) 3 of the Imports and Exports (Control) Act 1950 punishable under Section 156(I), 90 of the Customs Act 1969.
