Customs seizes Indian origin cloth during road checking

SIALKOT: Customs Intelligence and Investigation Department Gujranwala division confiscated smuggled Indian origin cloth the other day.

Reportedly, Superintendent Customs Intelligence and Investigation Gujranwala division Muhammad Akmal deputed Inspector Mian Muhammad Yousaf to check vehicles along with his team to curb smuggling on GT Road.

The team checked several vehicles and intercepted a van bearing registration No.RIP-1323 which was coming from Rawalpindi and going to Lahore.The team searched van and recovered smuggled Indian origin cloth worth Rs 150.000. The team asked about documents of cloth import from driver Arshad but the driver failed to produce any relevant documents regarding possession of the cloth.

The team confiscated cloth and registered a case of smuggling. The team released the driver after proper interrogations.
