Customs seizes Rs 343.7m smuggled goods, Rs 2.7b drugs in 9 months of FY 2014-15

ISLAMABAD: The directorate General Customs Intelligence and Investigation has seized Rs 343.7 million smuggled goods including cars, foreign cloth, tea, tyers and tubes, alcohol, oil, cigarettes carpets etc in different country wide actions during the month of March. As a whole 110 cases were registered and 16 persons were arrested.

In the month of March Customs Intelligence has caught Rs 51.9 million consignment of alcohol including 10,035 bottles of alcohol and 360 cans of beer. Moreover 25 non duty paid vehicles worth Rs 20.7 million and 53 cars worth Rs 9.2 million were impounded under Section 16 and 157 respectively.

As a whole Directorate General Customs Intelligence and Investigation has seized 11,218kg chars and 38,525kg poppy seed of Rs 2.7 billion while 879 cases were registered and 171 were arrested.
