Customs seizes scrap loaded container during crackdown

FAISALABAD: ‏The Customs Intelligence and Investigation has intercepted a container fully loaded with remeltable scrap during a crackdown.

Sources told Customs Today that Deputy Director Naveedur Rehman received secret information about some smuggling attempts. He formed a team comprising personnel of customs intelligence. The customs team intercepted a container bearing registration number TLH-926 near Toba By Pass. The driver who was identified as Muhammad Naeem provided the documents to the customs staff which were found fake during verification process.

Customs teams recovered foreign origin iron sheet of different guages and iron pipes in different dia scrap along with container in the operation. The total weight of the foreign origin scrap was found 100990 kilograms after examination of the container goods.

The recovered scrap used in the manufacturing of various goods due to remeltable feature and it is consumed in the manufacturing of many iron products in the local industry.
