KARACHI: Directorate General of Intelligence and Investigation inland Revenue unearthed a gang of illegal importers and starts stern action against them.
Sources told Customs Today that Customs authorities were receiving complaints about these illegal importers. Now authorities constituted different teams and placed them on Karachi, Lahore and Islamabad airports for checking. Sources said that these special teams will also keep an eye on personal luggage of ground staff deputed at airports, including pilots and other crew members.
Customs sources said that there are complaints that these illegal importers are using flights which reach Pakistan during night from European countries and Dubai. Through these flights they smuggled huge quantity of gold, electronics items, forge American dollars.
