Customs team recovers 230g heroin from parcel at IMO Chaklala

ISLAMABAD: The Customs Collectorate Islamabad recovered 230 grams of fine quality heroin from a parcel booked for the United Kingdom (UK) at International Mail Office Chaklala. The market value of the seized heroin is Rs 2 million.

Additional Collector Khawaja Naeem told Customs Today that heroin was concealed in three children’s jackets. It was a different case of heroin smuggling and was hard to find. However, the experienced staff of the Customs found it.

Additional Collector said that IMO following the orders of FBR is using all available resources to curb smuggling, the staff at IMO working manually but tactfully seized the consignments.

Additional Collector said that if IMO got computerized scanners the efficiency of IMO staff can be increase and smuggling drugs can stop to send abroad.

The collector also made appreciation call to Deputy Collector Sadia Usman and her staff who seized the said parcel of heroin. The additional collector said that it was a 6th case of heroin detected under the supervision of Deputy Collector Sadia Usman.
