Customs to hold first auction of FY 2016-17 during August

ISLAMABAD: The Customs Collectorate Islamabad will hold first auction of the financial year 2016-17 during August 2016.

Assistant Collector Tahir Khattak told Customs Today that currently the customs authorities are preparing lists of seized goods, offending and non-duty paid vehicles to offer them for auction during the month.

The assistant collector said that after the approval of Collector Dr Arslan a final date will be announced for general public through the media.

He said the collectorate will also advertise the auction date through  banners and these banners will be displayed in Islamabad and Rawalpindi.

He said that last year the customs department generated Rs203.71 million through seven auctions held through out the financial year of 2015-16.

He said that during the month of December 2015 and June 2016 the collectorate held auctions to enhance revenue and during this period the Customs Intelligence and Investigation department showed excellent performance.

He said that during the financial year 2015-16 customs authorities collected Rs195.12 million by auctioning offending and non-duty paid vehicles.

He said that during FY 2015-16 the State Warehouse hold seven auctions under Customs Act of 1969 and sell out different non customs duty paid items under value of Rs 8.59 million.
