Customs to register cases against 3 importers on cheque dishonoured charges

KARACHI: The Model Customs Collectorate Port Qasim has decided to register cases against three importers of plastic and rubber on cheque dishonoured charges, which were submitted by them against the differential amount of valuation to clear consignments.

As per details, the importer imported consignments of rubber and plastic, which were not cleared by the collectorate due to the increase in the value of the items. Later, the importers moved the court getting clearance of the items on which the consignments were cleared against the post-dated cheques submitted by the importers.

However, the court disposed of their petition due to not attending the court hearings.

The customs department when tried to cash the cheques, but these were dishonoured by the bank due the insufficient balance in the accounts. Therefore, the customs has decided to register a case against Shamim Enterprises, R K Moulding and Sharif Plastic and Export.

Meanwhile, the collectorate has decided to develop a strategy to overcome the issues in the future.
