KARACHI: The Directorate General of Customs Valuation has revised the customs values of gypsum board, gypsum tiles and fiber cement boards vide Valuation Ruling No 951/2016 under Section 25-A of the Customs Act, 1969.
Earlier, the values of the said items were determined vide Valuation Ruling No 777/2015 dated December 4, 2015.
As per details, certain importers have requested for revision of the same in the light of order of the high court, as the same was more than ninety days old.
Therefore, the directorate initiated an exercise to re-determine the values of imported gypsum board, tiles and fiber cement board. A meeting was held with stakeholders on October 5, 2016 to revise the values.
Now, China and Thailand origin plain gypsum board will be assessed at $0.225 per kilogramme, Middle East origin at $0.24/kg and from other origins at $0.265.While decorated gypsum board of China/Thailand origin will be assessed at $0.25/kg, Middle East at $0.27 and other regions at $0.30.
On the other hand, China, Thailand and Indian origin plain fiber cement board will be assessed at $0.21/kg and from other origins at $0.24/kg.
The values determined bide this ruling shall be the applicable customs value for assessment of subject imported goods until and unless it is revised by the competent authority in terms of Sub-Section (1) or (3) of Section 25-A of the Customs Act, 1969.
