Speaking at the workshop, Trade Commissioner at the Canadian Embassy Dinh Cong Thanh gave a brief introduction on the Canadian economy as well as business and investment opportunities to the country for Da Nang’s enterprises.

He also noted that the CPTPP has created a strict law-based legal framework, promoting the investment activities and services between Canada and Vietnam. Under the agreement, both countries are committed to protect consumers from the unauthorised disclosure of personal information and fraudulent online business practices and spam.

Nguyen Thi Thuy Mai, Deputy Director of Da Nang City Department of Industry and Trade, emphasised that the workshop offered an opportunity for firms operating in the city to know more about the supply of high quality imported products at competitive prices for products that are Canada’ strength, including agro-forestry and fishery, industrial and consumer products.

Vietnam has become Canada’s largest trade partner in Southeast Asia since 2015. The two-way trade reached CAD6.4 billion (US$4.84 billion) in 2018, an increase of CAD0.3 billion compared to the previous year.
