Dar rejects rumours about demonetisation of Rs5000 & Rs40,000 prize bonds

ISLAMABAD: Federal Finance Minister Muhammad Ishaq Dar dispelled rumours about demonetisation of Rs 5000 currency note and withdrawal of Rs 40,000 prize bonds.

He said that these rumours are being spread by the vested interests for ulterior motives. He further said that even no such proposal is under consideration of the Government of Pakistan.

It is pertinent to mention here that from  couple of days  before there was news in market that government is going to withdraw 5000 currency notes and  Rs 40,000 value prize bonds. These rumours was spreading panic in market and specially effect to the business community. People was Visiting the banks and trying to exchange the Rs. 5000 currency note into one thousand currency notes. Business community has appreciated the denial of such rumours and express the hope that government will not consider such kind of proposal now and in future.

He said that people will be informed in advance if government will decide to change currency notes.
