Dar reviews arrangements for 3G licence auction scheduled for Mar

ISLAMABAD: Finance Minister Ishaq Dar while presiding over the meeting of Spectrum Auction Advisory Committee was informed that road shows will begin next month along with the issuance of information memorandum for the auction expected to take place in March 2014. The meeting was also attended by Minister for Science and Technology Zahid Hamid, Minister of State for Information Technology Anusha Rehman, Pakistan Telecommunication Authority Chairman Dr Syed Ismail Shah, IT Secretary Ikhlaq Tarrar, senior officials of the government and the consultant.

The consultant M/s Value Firm hired for conducting auction of spectrum license have extensive experience in telecommunication specially its auction related matters. The firm has a presence in 10 different countries and employs 250 experts.

Meanwhile, Libyan Foreign Investment Company MD Khaled Amr E Algonsel met Finance Minister Ishaq Dar and discussed issues of bilateral economic interests. On the occasion, Dar said that Pakistan and Libya enjoyed close relations and there was a great potential for expansion of trade between the two countries.

The Libyan delegation evinced keen interest in investments in Pakistan especially in Public Sector Entities being disinvested by the government. The Libyan delegation also praised that the financial sector in Pakistan was very developed and therefore desired that the Libyans be trained in this field by institutions in Pakistan.

The meeting was also attended by Pak-Libya Holding Co (Pvt) Ltd Chairman Bashir Blkasm Omer, CEO Abid Aziz and DMD Khalid St Benrjoba, Advisor to Finance Division Rana Asad Amin, Finance Secretary Dr Waqar Masood Khan and senior officials of the Ministry of Finance.
