Dastgir says country’s economy strengthening

LAHORE: Federal Commerce Minister Khurram Dastgir Khan has said that today’s Pakistan was more peaceful as compared to previous years.

Talking to media here at Expo Centre, he said that with the grace of Almighty Allah, the country’s defence was very strong and its economy was also strengthening. He said that poultry industry had progressed in recent years, adding that people connected with poultry industry and working according to international standards would definitely help in improving exports.

The maximum betterment in poultry industry would open doors to access international market. The minister said that during his visit to Bahrain, the poultry export matter would be discussed. He also visited stalls set up at International Poultry Expo 2016 organized by Pakistan Poultry Association (PPA). Later, addressing the award distribution ceremony, the minister said that focus should be on how to shift this sector into world class export sector.

Khurram Dastgir appreciated the stalls set up at the expo and said these had helped in highlighting positivity. “Products related to agriculture sector needs to be refined with the use of innovative ideas and new technology,” he added.

The minister said that under the dynamic leadership of Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif, the government would provide all possible support to poultry sector. “Poultry sector can give their opinion regarding poultry related matters as the things related to Free Trade Agreement between Turkey and Thailand are underway,” he added. He said that terrorism incidents in the country had reduced to a large extent and now Pakistan was more peaceful. Karachi and Balochistan situation had improved a lot with regard to peace, he added.

He said the government was making sincere efforts to overcome electricity loadshedding, adding that once again the country had started connecting with the world. He said that China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) was of vital importance in this regard.
