DC Adjudication Saima Ayyaz serves show cause notice on vehicle smuggler

FAISALABAD: Customs Adjudication Deputy Collector Saima Ayyaz issued a show-cause notice to a suspect involved in smuggling of a Toyota Corolla car brought into the country without payment of duty and taxes.

The Anti-Smuggling Organization (ASO) Sargodha, which falls within the jurisdiction of Faisalabad Customs, impounded the said Toyota car bearing registration No: HD-474 Islamabad. The particulars of the vehicle have been checked from the website displayed by the Punjab government and found not tallied. Therefore the vehicle was brought to the office of the superintendent.

The customs officials took the vehicle into possession under Section 168 of the Customs Act-1969. On the other hand, the ASO authorities forwarded the contravention report to the Customs Adjudication for further legal proceedings.

The Customs Adjudication issued notice to the person on the violation of Section 10-A 89 (1) and 156 of the Customs Act-1969. However the adjudication has directed the respondents to file their replies by the given time which is also a last date of the hearing.

Deputy Collector served the notice on the accused party through Sargodha ASO. Deputy Collector Saima Ayyaz also ordered the ASO to depute any relevant official to attend the hearing on the scheduled date along with the relevant record.
