FAISALABAD: Customs Adjudication Deputy Collector Asma Hameed has issued a show cause notice to a suspect in smuggled cell phones case.
As per details, Faisalabad Customs Intelligence and Investigation following credible information conducted a raid and confiscated the smuggled mobile phones from the accused person.
The team asked the owner of the goods who introduced himself as Mohammad Naeem to show documents regarding legal import of the items but he could not produce the same.
Therefore, the officials impounded the mobile phones under customs laws and forwarded case to Customs Adjudication for further legal action.
Now, Deputy Collector Asma issued notice to the accused person on the violation of Section 10-A. 89(1) and 156(1) of the Customs Act, 1969 punishable under Section 156 (1) 89 of the Custom Act, 1969 and called him to show cause as to why cell phones should not be confiscated under aforementioned provisions of the law.
However, the adjudication has directed the accused to file reply on next date of hearing. The seizing agency has also been directed to file reply in the respective case.
The adjudication authority also directed Customs Intelligence Deputy Director Muhammad Riaz Hussain to attend the hearing on schedule date along with relevant record.
