DC Asma serves notice in impounded Toyota Vitz car case

FAISALABAD: Customs Adjudication Deputy Collector Asma Hameed has issued a show cause notice to a suspect in a non -duty paid Toyota Vitz car case.

As per details, Faisalabad Customs Intelligence and Investigation following credible information intercepted the Toyota vitz bearing Registration No. AKY-939 and asked the owner of the vehicle, who introduced himself Mohammad Jameel, to show documents regarding legal import of the vehicle but he could not produce the same.

Therefore, the officials impounded the car consider it smuggled one under the customs laws and forwarded case to Customs Adjudication for further legal action.

Now, Deputy Collector Asma Hameed issued notice to the accused person on the violation of Section 10-A. 89(1) and 156(1) of the Customs Act, 1969 punishable under Section 156(1)89 of the Custom Act and also called upon the accused to show cause as to why the said items should not be confiscated under aforementioned provisions of the law.

However, the adjudication has directed the accused to file reply on next date of hearing. The seizing agency has also been directed to file reply in the respective case.

Hearing date of in this case has been fixed, while the respondent may appear in person or through his accredited representative before the undersigned at the office.

The adjudication authority also directed Customs Intelligence Deputy Director Muhammad Riaz Hussain to attend the hearing on schedule date along with relevant record.
