DC Port Qasim unable to resolve importers problems

KARACHI: Importers complain against non-professional attitude of DC, Port Qasim Athar Naveed.

Talking to Customs Today, an importer said that all this is being done on behalf of DC Port Qasim because the importers have lodged a complaint against him with the higher authorities.

He said after this complaint, the importers are facing too much hardships because they are asked to provide unnecessary and extra documents to get their assignment cleared. “We know that we are facing this situation only because of DC Port Qasim,” he said.

The importers have appealed to higher authorities to interfere in this matter and do the needful. One of the shipping agents complained that “we are facing problems regarding clearance of our bills of ships at Port Qasim.” They said that clearance of a bill is a process of one week but now two months have passed on this process.

He said that foreign shipments are also facing problems due to difference in rupee and dollar rates. He further said that last year we were facing the same situation now we understand that DC Port Qasim did not show any interest to resolve the issues being faced by importers.
