DC Waheed reviews customs performance at Sialkot airport

SIALKOT: Model Customs Collectorate Deputy Collector Waheed Anwar Abro visited Sialkot International Airport Limited (SIAL) to review the performance of Customs Preventive staff and working environment.

The deputy collection visited the airport along with Superintendent Sardar Manzoor and Muhammad Naseem where he met with customs officials who were performing their duties.

He also checked luggage of some passengers, besides examining documents of cargo consignments to motivate the officials. He asked the passengers about complains if they have any. Meanwhile, the passengers travelling abroad or reaching Pakistan about the facilities being provided by the customs officials, they appreciated one window facility at the airport.

He said that the present government and Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) have instructed the customs department to facilitate the passengers as per law without creating any hurdles for them.

He also urged other departments, including Federal Investigation Agency (FIA), Airport Security Force (ASF), Civil Aviation Authority and others to cooperate with the customs officials to curb smuggling of contraband items.

He said that first flight for Hajj will leave from Sialkot International Airport Limited (SIAL) on August 25, adding that the department will fully cooperate with Hajjis, besides educating them about the customs laws.

He informed that Sialkot Customs Collector Ahmed Reza Khan will also visit the airport to review the working process and performance of the officials.
